Ayam Masak Merah
Original recipe taken from: http://myresipi.com/recipes/ayam-masak-merah-simple-sedap
INGREDIENTS
1 whole chicken (chopped to pieces)
turmeric and salt (I used fresh minced turmeric)
BLEND:
9-10 dry chilies
2cm ginger
4-5 garlic cloaves
2 bulbs big red onions
2 tomatoes (peeled and diced)
1 cup tomato ketchup
GARNISHING:
1 bulb big red onion (cut in circles)
green peas
STEPS
- Cut and clean the chicken.
- Marinate chicken with salt and turmeric.
- Fry chicken until 2/3 cooked.
- Stir fry all the blended ingredients except tomato and tomato ketchup until fragrant.
- Add in diced tomato and tomato ketchup. Continue to stir fry until fragrant.
- Add in chicken. When the sauce thickens, turn around once in a while.
- Serve.
NOTES
- This tastes really not bad. The one I did didn't look that red because I was a little budget on the tomato ketchup. My mom said not to put too much.. =/ So, if you were to follow the original recipe exactly, it should look red like outside sold ayam masak merah. Best serve with nasi beriani (which I did that day!). So yummm!
